SoDMA delivers tons of humanitarian aid to Baardhere district
GOOBJOOG NEWS | BAARDHEERE: The Somali National Disaster management Agency (SoDMA) has delivered more than six tons of humanitarian aid to Baardhere district in Gedo region to assist people affected by floods in the area.
According to the humanitarian agency, the aid, which comprises of food, water and medicine is meant to alleviate the suffering of the flood victims and support the recovery efforts of the local authorities and communities.
Baardheere is one of the districts that the brunt of the floods after the Jubba River burst its banks and submerged several homesteads and destroyed property, farmlands and infrastructure making it hard for aid to be delivered.
The agency previously deployed boats to evacuate people who had been marooned by floods to safer grounds.
Several parts of the country have been affected my massive floods occasioned by the El-Nino rains experienced in several regions around the Horn of Africa, exacerbating the humanitarian cases in the region that has been plagued by droughts and insecurity.
