SoDMA, Qatar to implement humanitarian project for Banadir residents

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The Somalia Disaster Management Authority (SoDMA) in collaboration with Qatar have launched the Udiya project which is meant to distribute humanitarian aid to needy people in Banadir region.

The project was launched at the SoDMA headquarters today by the agency’s chairman Mohamoud Moalllim Abdulle and the Qatari ambassador to Somalia Abdolla Salem Al Nuaimi which they said will be divided into parts; one for the regional administrations and another for Banadir region.

The Qatari officials said the project is expected to benefit at least 169000 needy families, orphans and people who have been displaced due to various natural disasters.

SoDMA chairman on his part thanked the Qatari government for the aid saying several people who have been displaced by floods, drought and conflict creating a humanitarian crisis that calls for concerted efforts between the government and its foreign partners to provide necessary aid.
