GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) commissioner Mohamud Moallim Thursday received an assortment of humanitarian aid from the IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation, a Turkish organization.

The aid package includes food, mosquito nets, and tents to shelter for families displaced by floods that has affected various parts of the country due to the ongoing El-Nino rains.

Commissioner Moallim commended the Turkish organization for its donation saying the relief aid will be distributed to all affected areas across the country.

The IHH foundation representative said that the organization was committed to supporting the Somali people in their time of crisis.

The El Niño phenomenon, which is characterized by higher-than-normal sea levels and warmer-than-average ocean temperatures along the equatorial Pacific, has caused heavy rainfall and flooding in many parts of Somalia.
