Somali Army, Local Forces Liberate Beera Yabaal in Hiiraan region

GOOBJOOG NEWS | BELEDWEYNE:  The Somali National army supported by local forces have recaptured Beera Yabaal area in the Hiiraan region after an intense fight with the Al-Shabaab militants.

Defense Minister Abdulqadir Mohamed Nur praised the national forces for the operation which he said dealt a major blow to the militants who were reportedly regrouping in the area.

“Today, a major defeat was inflicted on the Al-Shabaab militants in Hiiraan region. I thank the heroes of the army forces and the people of Hiiraan,” Minister Nur said in a statement.

 Beera Yabaal is a rural area situated between Buula Burte and Halgan districts, areas where Al-Shabaab fighters have reportedly been regrouping in recent days.
