GOOBJOOG NEWS| ANGOLA: Somalia’s Deputy Prime Minister Salah Ahmed Jama is attending the 21st Extraordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union in Luanda, Angola, with discussions focusing on conflict prevention, peace and security across the continent.

The summit brings together African leaders to discuss ways of strengthening the continent’s capacity to prevent and resolve conflicts amid continuing political and security challenges in several African countries.

A key item on the agenda is securing sustainable financing for African peace and security initiatives, as well as strengthening cooperation between African Union institutions and international partners.

Leaders are also expected to discuss the need for coordinated African approaches to conflicts, including greater investment in diplomacy, conflict prevention and institutions capable of responding effectively to emerging security threats.

Somalia is expected to draw on its experience with African-led peace support efforts and its continuing efforts to build long-term peace and stability.
