Somali National Army Liberates Several Villages in Hiraan Region

GOOBJOOG NEWS | BALADWEYNE: The Somali National Army (SNA), supported by local forces, has conducted successful operations against Al-Shabaab militants in areas along the Shabelle River in the Hiraan region.

According to Major General Sahal Abdullahi Omar, the Commander of the SNA Ground Forces, the operation targeted the villages of Halgan and Buuloburde, where the national army engaged in intense fighting with the militants.

Major General Omar stated that the national forces secured a significant victory, adding that operations to liberate more areas in the region were ongoing. He reaffirmed the army’s commitment to continuing the offensive until Al-Shabaab is completely eradicated from Somali territory.

Additionally, Major General Omar praised the Puntland state forces for their recent victory over ISIS militants in the mountainous Bari region, emphasizing that it reflects the Somali people’s strong determination to free their country from terrorist groups.

Meanwhile, the President of the Federal Government of Somalia has vowed to intensify efforts against militant groups and called on Somali citizens to support the government’s mission to defeat terrorism and restore peace and stability in the country.
