GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Federal Republic of Somalia President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud hosted former Prime Minister Abdi Farah Shirdon at the Presidential Palace on Sunday, as part of an ongoing effort to rally national leaders behind state-building and the fight against terrorism.

The meeting, held in Mogadishu’s Villa Somalia, focused on the country’s political trajectory, the security situation, and ways to strengthen collaboration across Somalia’s political and social spectrum.

Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to advancing Somalia’s state-building agenda and praised the Somali Armed Forces for their sacrifices in the battle to restore peace and stability.

“Building a strong, united Somalia requires the wisdom of all those who have served and shaped our nation,” President Mohamud said, according to officials briefed on the discussions.

The talks form part of President Mohamud’s wider national consultation campaign, which has brought together elders, intellectuals, and former officials to forge a broader consensus on Somalia’s path forward amid ongoing security and governance challenges.
