Somali President to pitch for international investment at EU summit

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud will today present a pitch for international investment in Somalia during his address in the Global Gateway in Brussels.

The President is expected to present his government’s efforts in fighting terrorism and creating a favourable environment for investment. Notable areas of investment for which the President will be urging support include a transition to green energy, infrastructure development, and education.

The Global Gateway is the EU’s strategy to boost smart, clean, and secure links in digital, energy, and transport sectors and to strengthen health, education, and research systems across the world. It is also aligned with the UN’s Agenda 2030 and its Sustainable Development Goals, as well as the Paris Agreement on climate change.
