Somalia government forces retake Dhanaane town from Alshabab
Somali National Army (SNA) backed by the African Union Mission in Somalia have taken over Dhanaane town of Lower Shabelle on Monday after Al-Shabab fighters withdrew from the area.
Witnesses confirmed that the Al Shabab militants had left the area before the government forces backed with AMISOM moved to the area.
Reports from the area are stating that the troops have escalated into the area by spreading to other areas under Dhanaane town.
The district of Dhanaane in Lower Shabelle region has already been under the control of Al-Shabaab fighters and taken over by the Somali federal government today after Alshabab withdraws from the area.
Dhanaane’s recapture comes as the Somali government and AMISOM forces have been conducting operations in the area of Lower Shabelle in the last days where they have taken control of several areas in lower Shabelle previously controlled by Alshabab.
