Somalia, India Agree to Deepen Economic Ties after Envoy’s Accreditation
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The federal government of Somalia and India have agreed to strengthen economic and development cooperation following the accreditation of India’s new ambassador.
Foreign Minister Abdisalam Abdi Ali received the credentials of Ambassador Adarsh Swaika in Mogadishu, marking the start of a renewed phase in bilateral relations between the two countries.
During the meeting, both sides agreed to translate longstanding diplomatic ties into practical cooperation, focusing on trade, infrastructure and technical collaboration aimed at delivering tangible economic benefits.
The discussions centred on expanding partnerships that could attract investment and support Somalia’s development priorities, in line with the government’s broader efforts to boost economic growth.
The accreditation of the new envoy signals increased engagement between Mogadishu and New Delhi, with both sides expressing commitment to closer coordination and sustained bilateral cooperation.
