Somalia Joins Reopening Of Sahel-Saharan Bloc Headquarters in Libya
GOOBJOOG NEWS | TRIPOLI: Federal government of Somalia’s Foreign Minister Abdisalam Ali attended the official reopening of the headquarters of the Community of Sahel-Saharan States in Tripoli, signaling renewed regional cooperation after a period of inactivity.
The ceremony was hosted by Libya’s Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah and brought together foreign ministers from member states to mark the relaunch of the organisation.
The reopening reflects a shared commitment to revitalizing cooperation among CEN-SAD countries, with a focus on security, economic integration and regional connectivity.
Somalia, a member of the bloc since 2001, said it views the development as an opportunity to strengthen collaboration between the Sahel and the Horn of Africa.
The government said it would actively contribute to the organisation’s renewed agenda, stressing the importance of collective action in addressing cross-border challenges.
The event comes as regional countries seek to enhance cooperation on security and development amid ongoing instability in parts of the Sahel and wider region.
