Somalia Launches Cybersecurity Training to Boost Protection of State Systems
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The National Communications Authority has launched a certification training programme aimed at strengthening the country’s cybersecurity capacity, with officials highlighting the need to better protect national data and digital infrastructure.
Director General Mustafa Yasin Sheikh said the initiative would equip government ICT personnel with internationally recognised skills to counter rising cyber threats.
“This training programme forms part of efforts to secure Somalia’s digital infrastructure and national data, while building the capacity of government personnel to protect critical systems and services,” he said at the launch.
He added that the programme was designed to improve institutional readiness and response to cyber risks, urging participants to apply the knowledge gained to enhance cybersecurity practices across government.
The training, which will run in Mogadishu and Nairobi, includes courses such as CompTIA Security+ and Certified Information Systems Security Professional.
The programme is supported by the World Bank Group under the SCALED-UP project and delivered in partnership with the African Advanced Level Telecommunications Institute.
