GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somalia’s Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre on Monday officially launched the country’s new Civil Service Pay and Grading Policy, a landmark move aimed at standardizing salaries and strengthening transparency across the public sector.

The policy, long in development, seeks to harmonize compensation structures within government institutions, promoting fairness, professionalism, and accountability in public administration.

Officials said the reform is part of the broader “DanQaran” government’s agenda to modernize Somalia’s payroll systems and ensure equitable pay for civil servants nationwide.

“This is a major step toward building a professional, transparent, and accountable civil service,” Prime Minister Barre said during the launch ceremony in Mogadishu.

The new system is expected to boost efficiency, prevent salary discrepancies, and lay the foundation for sustainable governance as Somalia continues its state-building and institutional development efforts.
