Somalia Seeks Tanzania’s Expertise in Digital Government and Public Administration

GOOBJOOG NEWS | DODOMA: A Somali government delegation visiting Tanzania has held talks on strengthening cooperation in youth employment, workforce development and digital government as Somalia seeks to modernise public administration and expand the use of technology in government services.

The delegation, led by State Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister Hirsi Jama Gani, was received at Tanzania’s Prime Minister’s Office by Deus Sangu, the minister responsible for labour, employment and labour relations.

The two sides discussed closer institutional cooperation between Somalia and Tanzania, particularly in youth employment, skills development and the exchange of knowledge and expertise between government institutions.

The Somali delegation also took part in a knowledge-sharing session on Tanzania’s Cabinet management system, including procedures for preparing Cabinet agendas, coordinating ministries and monitoring the implementation of government decisions.

Officials also presented Tanzania’s e-Cabinet system, a digital platform used in the management and coordination of Cabinet business.

The delegation later visited Tanzania’s e-Government Authority (e-GA), where Somali officials were briefed on the country’s experience in developing and modernising digital government.

Discussions focused on integrating government systems, shared digital infrastructure, government networks, digital identity, online public services, data sharing, cybersecurity and standards for the development of public-sector technology.

The visit comes as Somalia pursues wider efforts to modernise public administration and accelerate digital transformation across government institutions, including the expansion of digital services and stronger coordination between ministries.

The Somali delegation’s visit also reflects growing cooperation between Somalia and Tanzania in the exchange of government expertise and institutional experience.
