Somalia to Unify Armed Forces’ Training Programs, PM Barre says
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The federal government of Somalia has said all training programs for its armed forces will be unified so as to enhance their performance in securing the country.
Speaking after visiting the TurkSom military academy in Mogadishu Tuesday, PM Barre added that the armed forces will be set up with a unified curriculum that will strengthen the performance of their duties.
Barre said the efforts were part of the federal government’s moves to enhance the capacity of its armed forces to take control of securing the country and challenged the forces not relent in their efforts to fight the Al-shabaab militants and restore peace and stability across Somalia.
He further called on the Somali people to support the government and national forces’ efforts in the ongoing offensive against the Al-shabaab militants and to avoid inter clan conflicts which he said jeopardizes government’s efforts to restore peace in the country.
“I am calling on the Somali clans who are fighting in different areas of the country to stop the conflict and to unite their forces to fight the Al-shabaab from the country and to repel the foreign enemies who have invaded our country,” the prime minister said.
