Somalia, U.S. Agree To Step Up Joint Operations against Militant Groups
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somalia and the United States have agreed to intensify joint efforts against militant groups following talks between senior military officials, with a focus on boosting operations and strengthening the Somali army’s capabilities.
Commander of the Somali National Army, Ibraahim Maxamed Maxamuud, met with Claude K. Tudor of Special Operations Command Africa to discuss expanding security cooperation and accelerating the fight against extremist groups.
Both sides agreed on the need to increase the pace of operations and enhance coordination to counter militant threats in affected regions.
They also highlighted plans to scale up military training, technical support and expertise-sharing to improve the effectiveness and professionalism of Somali forces.
The outcome of the meeting is expected to strengthen ongoing joint operations and support Somalia’s broader efforts to build a capable, self-reliant security force.
The engagement forms part of continued defence cooperation between Somalia and the United States, particularly in special operations and counterterrorism.
