GOOBJOOG NEWS | WASHINGTON: Somalia’s intelligence chief has held high-level talks with U.S. counterparts aimed at expanding intelligence-sharing and strengthening joint counter-terrorism operations.

Mahad Mohamed Salad, Director General of the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), met senior officials from the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) during his visit to Washington, focusing on enhancing intelligence coordination and counter-terrorism collaboration.

The discussions were aimed at strengthening long-standing security ties between Somalia and the United States, with an emphasis on improving information-sharing mechanisms to support ongoing operations against militant groups.

As part of the visit, the NISA chief also traveled to Fort Bragg, where he held talks with U.S. Special Forces commanders on operational coordination and future joint missions.

Somali officials said the enhanced cooperation has already contributed to recent security gains, including precision operations targeting militant leadership and disrupting their networks across central and southern Somalia.

The visit underscores growing intelligence and military cooperation between Mogadishu and Washington, as Somalia intensifies efforts to weaken militant groups and stabilize the country.
