Federal Government Partners with Youth Groups to Drive National Youth Day Agenda
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The federal government of Somalia’s Ministry of Youth and Sports and national youth organisations have agreed on a coordinated plan to mobilise young people ahead of National Youth Day on May 15.
The meeting, led by Director General Ahmed Yusuf Hassan, resulted in a joint framework to organise nationwide activities aimed at promoting unity, civic engagement and youth participation in state-building efforts.
They also agreed to forge closer coordination between government institutions and grassroots youth networks, with a focus on ensuring broad and inclusive participation across regions.
Participants also agreed to align youth-led initiatives with national development priorities, positioning the event as a platform to strengthen the role of young people in governance, peacebuilding and social cohesion.
The move comes as Somalia seeks to harness its large youth population as a driver of stability and development, amid ongoing efforts to rebuild institutions and expand opportunities for young people.
Authorities said sustained collaboration between the government and youth groups would be key to translating engagement into long-term impact beyond the annual celebration.
