Somaliland: Federal Minister Visit to Sanaag is a Clear Cut Confrontation With Us

Somaliland has described the visit by the federal minister of planning and international corporation Jamal Hassan Mohamed in Sanaag region as open confrontation between Somalia and the self breakaway region of Somaliland.

Somaliland foreign minister Dr. Sa’ad Ali Shire noted the visit can upset the relationship between the two parties and if confrontation emerges, it would be a detrimental to the local people in the area.

“Truly we heavily oppose such an issue. There is distinctive border between Somalia and Somaliland. To trespass it is a violation and will upset the communication between us and Somalia. It will surely end up in confrontation which is not good for the residents [of Sanaag] and the region” said Minister Shire.

Minister Mohamed visited the region yesterday and had an extensive interaction with the local leaders and the people.
