Somaliland issues statement on missing cleric suspected to have joined Al-Shabaab
GOOBJOOG NEWS/HARGEISA: The Somaliland government has issued a statement on the disappearance of a prominent Somaliland cleric identified as Sheikh Adan Abdirahman Warsame (Sheikh Adan Sunne), who together with his family of 13 members, went missing a few days ago.
While detailing his disappearance, Abdillahi Mohamed Hussein, the Deputy Security Minister at the Interior Ministry, said Sheikh Adan had by his own volition moved out of Somaliland, contrary to reports that his disappearance was linked to the Somaliland government.
The Deputy Security Minister added that investigations had been launched to unravel the mystery of the disappeared cleric, who is highly believed to have joined Al-Shabaab, and to find out who necessitated his move out of Somaliland.
Sheikh Adan Sunne has been detained multiple times on account of planning terrorist acts, and of spreading extremist ideologies in mosques and instigating the public against the police and the government.
