Somaliland president dismisses AG and Investment Minister days after opposition declares him illegitimate ruler

GOOBJOOG NEWS|HARGEISA: Somaliland President Muse Bihi Abdi fired Attorney General Hassan Ahmed Adan and the Minister of Development and Investment, Abdullahi Abdirahman Aare, on Wednesday.

The President appointed Abdirahman Jamac Hayaan as the new Attorney General, replacing Ahmed, who had served in the position for the last 12 years.

A decree from the Somaliland Presidential Palace also appointed Amina Elmi Farid Baded as the new minister of development and investment.

No reason was given by the Somaliland administration for the dismissal of the two government officials, although sources indicate that this might be the start of a major shakeup of the Bihi cabinet following political squabbles in the region.

The reshuffle comes a few days after the Somaliland opposition declared that it would not recognize Muse Bihi as the region’s legitimate leader after his term ended on November 13.
