Somaliland President jets off to Addis Ababa

GOOBJOOG NEWS|HARGEISA: Somaliland President Muse Bihi Abdi left this morning for Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, at the official invitation of the Ethiopian Prime Minister, Abiy Ahmed.

Somaliland’s envoy to Addis Ababa said a preliminary delegation for the president’s trip is currently in Addis Ababa, including Dr. Saad Ali Shire, Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Isse Kayd, Minister of Transport and Road Development Abdirizak Atash and the Somaliland Recognition Envoy, Dr. Edna Adan.

Although the reason for the visit to Ethiopia was not made public, the Bihi is expected to discuss with his Ethiopian counterpart the relationship between the two countries and the strengthening of development and security within the two borders.

Bihi’s visit comes amid unconfirmed reports suggesting that Ethiopia is negotiating a concession for the strategic port of Zayla in Somaliland.
