Somaliland’s Finance Minister leaves for Taipei

GOOBJOOG NEWS/HARGEISA: Somaliland’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Essa Kayd Mohamoud left for Taipei Monday, accompanied by a delegation of ministers to meet with senior officials of the Taiwan government.

The delegation comprised the Finance Minister, Dr. Sa’ad Ali Shire, Minister of planning and National Development, Omar Ali Abdilahi, and Saeed Sulub Mohamed, Minister of Livestock and Fisheries Development.

 During the delegation’s Feb. 8 to 12 visit, the team will receive an audience with President Tsai Ing-wen and later hold meetings with the country’s  Foreign, Economic and Agriculture Ministers, as well as other officials.

The team will also meet with officials from the country’s Foreign Aid Organization International Cooperation and Development Fund (TaiwanICDF) and state-run petroleum supplier CPC Corporation, to discuss future cooperation projects with Somaliland.

 Somaliland, a break-away region from Somalia enjoys close ties and mutually beneficial collaboration with Taiwan since 2020, with a firm known as CECI, due to construct a modern hospital in the capital, Hargeisa.
