GOOBJOOG NEWS|HARGEISA: Somaliland opposition leaders issued a press release Sunday saying they had ceased recognizing Muse Bihi as the “legitimate” president after his term ended on November 13 without the conduct of presidential elections.

Addressing the media, a fiery Waddani Party presidential candidate and opposition leader, Abdurahman Irro, said Muse Bihi and his government have no legitimacy to run the country since a continuation of his term would see the running of the country with an iron fist.

The joint statement issued by the Somaliland political parties, Waddani and Ucid, further said the current president, effective from November 13, would be termed “the outgoing president and Kulmiye Party Chairman.”

The parties also urged the international community not to enter into any agreement with or offer any support to the Bihi government as the president’s term and that of his cabinet had expired.

Finally, police were warned against taking any orders from the president, as any order taken by them would be deemed illegal. The parties also called on their supporters and the general public to record any abuses meted out to them by the outgoing regime.
