Sudanese, Syrian ISIS members arrested in Bari region, Puntland

GOOBJOOG NEWS|BARI REGION: Two ISIS members from Sudan and Syria were arrested Tuesday by Puntland forces in Bari region, police in the region have said.

According to a statement from the police, the two were nabbed among them a senior member of the group identified as Mohamed Ibrahim Daha in Balli-Dhidinn district.

“The Puntland Police have arrested foreigners from Syria and Sudan, one of whom is Mohamed Ibrahim Daha,” the police statement said.

On 18 August 2021, ISIS militants killed Ballidhidhin district Mayor Mohamed Ahmed Mumin.

The militant group has not commented on the operation. The group sprung up in 2015 in the Galgala mountain ranges in Bari region under the leadership of Somali-based cleric Abdulqadir Mumin who was formerly based in the UK.
