‘Suspension of HOP86 was politically motivated’- Hirshabelle Presidency

GOOBJOOG NEWS/JOWHAR: A statement from the Office of the President of HirShabelle state has expressed disappointment over the illegal holding of the HOP086 won by Farmajo’s National Security Adviser, Fahad Yasin Haji Dahir. 

Hirshabelle state reiterated that the election of the seat was conducted in accordance with the September 17, 2020 Agreement and that the correct electoral procedures, in the presence of Federal and State electoral bodies and Dispute Resolution Committees were followed to the latter.

“No complaints were received from the community holding the seat and the candidates. Therefore, the results were correct,” read the statement by the HirShabelle state.

Hirshabelle further stated that the suspension of the HOP seat was politically motivated, warning that the steps being taken by FEIT could further delay the completion of the country’s elections.

The statement issued by Hirshabelle follows FEIT’s recent decision of approving two seats from South West State.

The Administration has therefore called on FEIT to release seat HOP086 in observance of the National Consultative Forum guidelines in order to avert any crisis that could hurt the electoral process.
