GOOBJOOG NEWS|HARGEISA: The rescue mission for a miner who had been trapped in a gold mine for the last two days in Milho village in the Sanaag region has ended on a tragic note.

The body of the late Mohamed Said was retrieved after 35 painstaking hours of rescue operations conducted by the local community and volunteer rescuers.

The victim met his unfortunate circumstances after the mine he was digging caved in, trapping him under a huge rock, according to the rescuers.

Locals have decried the lack of government support in the rescue of the 28-year-old young man, saying that his life would have been spared if the necessary interventions to save him had been put in place.
