Turkish Spy Chief in Mogadishu for Key Security Talks

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Turkey’s National Intelligence Organization Director, Ibrahim Kalin is in Mogadishu for key talks aimed at enhancing security and economic cooperation between the two countries.

The visit, coming a few days after the arrival of a Turkish Naval ship at the Port of Mogadishu underscores the growing partnership between the two countries in combating security threats posed by the Al-Shabaab and other terrorist organizations in the region.

Top federal government officials received the Turkish delegation at the Aden Adde airport setting the stage for high-level discussions and engagements during their stay in Mogadishu.

Key among the discussions to be held between officials from the two nations is strategies for enhancing cooperation between the intelligence agencies of both countries and also explore avenues for economic collaboration between Turkey and Somalia.

The potential for increased trade, investment, and development partnerships will be on the agenda, reflecting a broader commitment to strengthening bilateral relations beyond security cooperation.

The visit of Turkish National Intelligence Director Ibrahim Kalin is part of a series of diplomatic engagements between the two states with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan expected in the country in coming days.
