Two police officers sacked for violating Ramadan

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The Federal Government of Somalia’s Police Command has fired two police officers for violating the holy month of Ramadan.

According to a statement from the command, the two, Abdi Saaq Adan Alasoow and Abdullahi Mohamed Ahmed committed the offence by consuming illicit drugs and consuming food forbidden during the holy month without clear medical reasons.

The command issued a statement with the photos the officers informing the capital’s security agencies and residents that the two were no longer part of the police force.

“All security agencies and the people of Mogadishu are informed that the two police officers whose names and pictures have been given have been dismissed from the Somali Police Force for committing unethical acts,” the statement reads.

Police officers are required to abide by the Police Force Act which was enacted to maintain ethical standards within the force.
