UAE Air Force Strikes ISIS Militants in Puntland’s Bari Region

GOOBJOOG NEWS|BARI: The UAE military carried out an airstrike against ISIS militants in the Al-Miskad mountain ranges in the Bari region of Puntland Monday evening.

The Puntland Counter Terrorism Operation said the strike targeted ISIS militants who were regrouping in the area.

“An airstrike has just taken place in the Miiraale Valley, within the Calmiskaad mountain range, targeting fleeing ISIS terrorists who were regrouping. The strike was carried out by Puntland’s allies from UAE,” the command said.

It did not however, mention if there were any casualties. The strike came barely a day after th Puntland forces seized a sniper training camp used by ISIS in the Dibi-Ganuun area of Al-Miskad.

Puntland forces have waged a fierce battle against ISIS in recent months, killing several fighters and commanders while capturing others alive. The US has been providing an aerial support through airstrikes. The entry of the UAE airwing is expected to boost the Puntland command and deal a further blow to the ISIS terrorist organisation.
