GOOBJOOG NEWS | MIDDLE SHABELLE: The Somali National Army targeted a site where Al-Shabaab militants were reportedly meeting in the Middle Shabelle region.

According to a government statement, none of the militants escaped during the attack in the Sumadaale area in Middle Shabelle. There was, however, no mention of casualties. The statement noted that the militant leadership was holding a meeting with fighters when the SNA attacked.

In a separate incident, the SNA repelled a suicide attack by Khawarij militants near the Sabiid and Aanoole areas in the Lower Shabelle region. In the ensuing fight, several militants were killed, the statement added. The government sent a message of condolence to the soldiers killed during the fighting.

“We send our prayers to the brave soldiers who were martyred or injured during these operations. We also commend the forces for their remarkable victories against the Khawarij (Al-Shabaab) and extend our gratitude to our international partners for their continued support,” the statement read.
