Voting for Senators to kick off in HirShabelle today

GOOBJOOG NEWS|JOWHAR: Voting in HirShabelle state parliament is expected to kick off this morning with 27 candidates battling for the eight seats allocated to the state.

The exercise which has attracted an average of four candidates per seat comes in the wake of instability in the state particularly in Hiiraan region which has had long-running feuds with state president Ali Gudlawe.

Among the contenders to watch are the current Somali ambassador to Kenya Mohamed Nur Tarsan and former warlord Muse Yalahow.
