GOOBJOOG NEWS|HARGEISA: The chairman of the National Party of Somaliland, Hirsi Ali Haji Hassan, has accused the Muse Bihi administration of interfering with the peaceful protests that are currently ongoing in the region’s capital, Hargeisa.

According to Hirsi, the government had resorted to disabling internet connectivity throughout Somaliland in order to conceal evidence of the violence meted out against peaceful demonstrators and opposition politicians.

Governor Hirsi also pointed out that the Bihi administration had closed all major intersections and roads leading to the city of Hargeisa.

According to a post on Governor Hirsi’s Facebook page, several Wadani party politicians had been detained and tortured while others were shot with live ammunition.

Somaliland’s opposition is currently holding demonstrations demanding that the presidential election be held on time on November 13. The government had yesterday given the two opposition parties; UCID and WADDANI parties a go-ahead to carry out peaceful and nonviolent demonstrations, however, there are reports that the army has used live ammunition against civilians and several people have been injured.
