GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Residents of Wajid district in Somalia’s Bakool region held a large rally following Eid prayers, voicing support for the federal government and ongoing political reforms.

The gathering brought together community members who called for stability, unity and stronger governance in South West Somalia amid recent tensions.

Participants expressed backing for the Federal Government of Somalia and its efforts to advance key national priorities. Earlier, a section of leaders from the region expressed their support for the Federal Government “until a legitimate leadership is established” in reference to their displeasure of the current president Abdiasis Laftagareen.

They also welcomed the implementation of the country’s newly adopted constitution and voiced support for plans to transition to a one-person, one-vote electoral system.

Community leaders said the demonstration reflected growing public engagement in Somalia’s political process and support for reforms aimed at strengthening democratic institutions.
