Social Media Activist Sacdiyo Bajaaj Awaits Verdict After Months in Detention as Court Concludes Hearings

Storyline:National News

Social media activist Sacdiyo Bajaaj, who has spent several months in detention while facing charges related to alleged public incitement, appeared once again before the Banadir Regional Court on Tuesday as proceedings in her case formally came to a close.

The court concluded hearings in the matter and is now expected to issue a final verdict, according to her defense lawyer, Advocate Halane.Speaking after the session, Halane said all stages of the trial had been completed and that the defense was now awaiting the court’s decision.

He argued that the prosecution had failed to present sufficient evidence or witnesses to substantiate the allegations against his client despite her lengthy detention.”There is no evidence or witness supporting the charges against Sacdiyo Bajaaj,” Halane said, maintaining that the case lacks the legal basis required for a conviction.

The case has attracted public attention amid concerns over due process and access to justice, particularly given the length of Bajaaj’s detention before a final determination of the charges against her.In an earlier hearing, the Banadir Regional Court returned the case to prosecutors and instructed them to strengthen and complete the evidence and legal arguments supporting the charges, raising further questions about the adequacy of the prosecution’s case.

With hearings now concluded, attention now turns to the court’s final ruling, which will determine the fate of the social media activist after months behind bars.
