Abdulkadir Jama Elected New Lower House Speaker

GOOBJOOG NEWS| MOGADISHU: Immediate former Ports Ministers Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur Jama has been elected Speaker of Somalia’s House of the People following a parliamentary vote held today in Mogadishu.

Jama secured 142 votes, defeating fellow MP Abdulkadir Omar Macallin Daada, who received 30 votes.

A total of two votes were declared invalid during the election. Jama, a close ally of President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud now replaces Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur Madobe, who recently assumed the leadership of Southwest State.
