GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somalia’s army chief has visited frontline areas in Waajid town in the Bakool region, urging troops to intensify operations against militants.

Brigadier General Ibrahim Mohamed Mohamud travelled to military positions in the town, where he was briefed by officers on the security situation and recent gains in the fight against Al-Shabaab.

During the visit, he called on soldiers to step up efforts to eliminate militant groups and maintain pressure on insurgents.

The trip also aimed to boost troop morale, with the army chief praising soldiers for their role in ongoing operations.

He held a separate meeting with local elders to discuss security cooperation and community support for military efforts.

The visit marks the first time a Somali army chief has conducted an official inspection in Waajid, underlining the importance of the area in ongoing counter-insurgency operations.

Somalia has in recent years intensified military campaigns against Al-Shabaab, seeking to reclaim territory and strengthen security across central and southern regions.
