ATMIS Hands Over Horillow Base to SNA Forces

GOOBJOOG NEWS | HIRSHABELLE: The African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) has handed over the Horillow base in Hirshabelle regional state to the Somali National Forces (SNA).

The base which used to be under the command of the Burundi National Defence Forces (BNDF) was handed over by co themmander of Qorillow station at ATMIS Gashaanle Dhaxe Jean Baptiste Nahishakiye to the new commander of the Somali Army, Gaashanle Dhaxan Harun Hassan.

The ceremony was chaired by the Head of Planning at the Central Center of ATMIS Gashanle Central George Nkash, attended by key officials including the Head of ATMIS Joint Support Center (JSOC), Sekou Trawally and Senior Advisor Yvette Langenhuizen and other ATMIS representative.

This transfer is a big step taken by Phase 2 of ATMIS reduction to 3,000 soldiers as part of Somalia’s wider initiative for security separation.

The cooperation and coordination shown in this event shows how the parties involved are determined to take over the security forces of Somalia who are actively working.
