Defence HQs Says Madobe Working with Al-Shabaab to Attack Federal Troops
GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: The Somali government has sensationally claimed that Jubaland President Ahmed is now working with the militant group Al-Shabaab to attack government forces amidst an ongoing standoff.
The Ministry of Defence said in a statement Wednesday that forces loyal to Madobe worked in cohorts with Al-Shabaab to access locations occupied by joint federal forces and Jubaland paramilitary troops who allied to the Federal Government.
“The Ministry of Defence has been closely monitoring Ahmed Madobe’s alarming collusion with Khawarij (Al-Shabaab). The alliance has enabled khawarij militants to grant passage to the groups he has mobilised for assault against the national forces,” the statement read in part.

Terming this allegation as ‘treasonous,’ the Ministry said those ‘complicit in this illegal activities will face several legal consequences.’
The remarks come following a clash between the allied federal and state troops and forces loyal to Madobe in Manaraani area near the strategic port town of Ras Kamboni. The Ministry of Defence said the allied forces repelled the attack.
Sources said there were casualties on both sides and military vehicles destroyed.
Madobe once led the Ras Kamboni Movement, a faction of the Isbul Islam faction that jointly held Kismayo city in 2009. He would later join forces with Kenya Defence Forces in 2011 to expel Al-Shabaab from Kismayo.
