Dignitaries arrive ahead of President Mohamud’s inauguration

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: Aden Abdulle International Airport became a beehive of activity for the better part of Tuesday as foreign dignitaries and diplomats started trickling into the country ahead of the inauguration of Somalia’s tenth President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, on June 9th.

Among those who have already set foot in the country include delegations from Uganda, Kenya, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Turkey and Bahrain. 

Leaders from Ethiopia, Kenya and Djibouti have already confirmed their attendance for Thursday’s inauguration of President Mohamud.

Advance teams paving the way for the arrival of the East African heads of state jetted into Mogadishu as early as Monday.

Here at home, the Jubaland Head of State, Ahmed Mohamed Islam (Madobe) arrived in Mogadishu on Tuesday, and it is expected that the presidents of Hir-Shabelle, Galmudug, South West and Puntland will also arrive any time from now.
