GOOBJOOG NEWS | DHUUSAMAREB: Federal Government of Somalia President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has said the federal government remains open to talks with all political stakeholders, urging opposition figures to take up an offer of dialogue as tensions persist over the country’s electoral and constitutional arrangements.

Speaking on Thursday at the inauguration of Galmudug’s new president, Liban Ahmed Hassan, in Dhusamareb, Hassan said the government’s invitation for political dialogue remained open and that disagreements should be resolved through consultation and consensus.

He called on political groups still at odds with the government to seize the opportunity for talks and contribute to efforts to reach a political understanding.

The remarks come amid a prolonged dispute between the federal government and opposition figures over the electoral process, constitutional changes and relations between Mogadishu and some federal member states.

The government has announced plans to convene a national consultation meeting in Mogadishu from November 14 to 18, 2026, in a bid to bring political stakeholders together.
