Electoral Commission Reports Steady Progress in Voter Registration in Hobyo
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The electoral commission has said voter registration is progressing steadily in Hobyo district, as preparations continue for planned one-person, one-vote elections.
The National Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission said the exercise is actively under way in Galbarwaqo town in the Mudug region, with growing numbers of residents turning out to register.
Officials said the process has gathered momentum in recent days, supported by increased mobilisation efforts aimed at reaching eligible voters across the district.
The commission added that the expansion of registration centres is helping to improve access and ensure broader participation in the electoral process.
The rollout in Hobyo forms part of a wider nationwide drive to register voters ahead of upcoming polls, as Somalia works toward implementing a more inclusive and transparent electoral system.
