Eswatini Reaffirms Support for Somalia’s Sovereignty in Seoul Talks
GOOBJOOG NEWS | SEOUL: The Kingdom of Eswatini has reaffirmed its support for Somalia’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity following talks between Somali Foreign Minister Abdisalam Abdi Ali and Eswatini’s Minister of Economic Planning and Development, Dr. Thambo Gina, on the sidelines of the Korea–Africa Ministerial Meeting in Seoul.
The meeting concluded with both sides pledging to strengthen bilateral relations and expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest, while emphasizing the importance of African solidarity and partnership.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Gina reiterated Eswatini’s unwavering support for the Federal Republic of Somalia’s independence, political sovereignty and territorial integrity, a position Mogadishu views as critical amid ongoing efforts to safeguard national unity and strengthen state institutions.
The two ministers also agreed on the need to deepen collaboration between their countries and explore opportunities for greater engagement in development, economic cooperation and regional affairs.
The talks reflects Somalia’s broader diplomatic push to strengthen partnerships across Africa and build support for its national priorities, including stability, economic development and regional cooperation.
Both officials underscored the importance of African unity, mutual respect and collective action in addressing shared challenges facing the continent, including economic growth, sustainable development and regional integration.
The meeting took place during the Korea–Africa Ministerial Meeting in Seoul, which has brought together ministers and senior officials from across Africa and South Korea to discuss trade, investment, and technology and development cooperation.
For Somalia, the engagement highlights the Federal Government’s continued efforts to expand its diplomatic footprint and reinforce support among African partners as it advances its state-building and development agenda.
