Finance minister suspends tax collection in Mogadishu over irregular taxation
The Ministry of Finance has forthwith suspended any taxation of businesses in Mogadishu owing to increased complaints from traders over irregular taxation in violation of the law.
Finance Minister Ahmed Ibrahim Aden Fraggetti this evening told Goobjoog News the order takes effect from today until his ministry issues direction on the same noting that his office had received numerous complaints from traders.
“I have with effect from today suspended any taxation of businesses in Mogadishu following massive complaints from the public that the tax collection was irregular and out rightly violated the law,” said Fargetti.
The minister also asked the business community not to remit any monies to anyone posing as a tax collector until further notice and that all ministry officials must display their batches when conducting official business.
Fargetti also warned against mobile cash payments noting that the only acceptable means is through cash.
