GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: Galmudug presidential candidate Libaan Ahmed Hassan has extended his congratulations to the Somali people as the country marks July 1, the anniversary of Somalia’s independence and unification.

In his Independence Day message, Libaan described July 1 as a historic occasion that honors the long struggle, courage, and sacrifice of the Somali heroes who fought for the country’s freedom and laid the foundation for national unity.

“July 1 is a day of profound significance for all Somalis. It is a time to remember the long struggle, courage, and selfless sacrifices of the Somali heroes who secured our independence and the unity we cherish today,” he said.

The candidate also called on Somalis to strengthen national unity, solidarity, and mutual respect as the country continues its efforts to build a peaceful and prosperous future.

“I call upon all Somalis to reinforce the values of unity, togetherness, and mutual respect, and to work collectively toward building a peaceful, prosperous Somalia where every citizen enjoys equal opportunities and shares in the nation’s progress,” Libaan said.

He said the anniversary should serve not only as a celebration of Somalia’s historic achievements but also as an opportunity to renew the collective commitment to peace, national cohesion, and sustainable development.
