Government forces backed by AMISOM launch operation in Gedo region

Government forces in Gedo region backed by Ahlu Suna militias and AMISOM troops, Ethiopian forces launched massive security operations against Al-shabab in the region.

Abdihakim Mohamed Omar, senior security official in Gedo stated that the operations are aimed to maintain the overall security of the region.

He added that government’s plan is to bring all the areas under Al-shabab to the hand of federal government after the attack.

Al-shabab control some major towns in Gedo region including Bardere one their strongholds and regularly carry out attacks against bases.
