Interior Minister condoles with family of slain cleric, Mohamed Hersi

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: The Minister of Internal Affairs of the Federal Government of Somalia, Ahmed Maallim Fiqi, has condoled with the family and friends of renown elder and cleric Sheikh Abdi Azis Mohamed Hersi, who was killed in Mogadishu’s Dharkenley District on Friday.

A statement by the Ministry of Interior said Hon. Fiqi hailed the late Hersi as a resourceful elder of the community he lived in and for the role he played as an imam.The Minister of Internal Affairs said that the late Imam was killed by the Khawarij terrorist group as he made his way out of Dabaqayn Mosque in Dharkenley District, Mogadishu, on Friday afternoon.

The killing of the imam adds to the growing list of clerics and civilians killed by the terrorist group as they leave places of prayer.
