GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: Jubaland President Ahmed Mohamed Islam (Ahmed Madobe) on Sunday held a meeting with the Speaker of the House of the People Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur (Sheikh Adan Madobe).

The Jubaland President congratulated the Speaker for his election to the leadership of the Lower House and expressed his gratitude to Sheikh Madobe for certifying the election of 16 MPs elected in El-Wak district.

Sheikh Adan Madobe on Sunday announced that the 16 MPs picked in El-Wak were the legitimately elected MPs for Gedo region, dealing a blow to pro-Farmaajo lawmakers picked in a parallel election in Garbaharey.

The move by the Lower House Speaker is expected to elicit sharp reaction from the Gabarharey camp. On April 30, chaos erupted in Somalia’s parliament after Farmajo-backed MPs elected in Garbaharey attended the first session of the Lower House chaired by new speaker Sheikh Adan Madobe, claiming to be the real representation of Gedo.
