GOOBJOOG NEWS | GEDO: Jubaland First Vice President Mohamud Sayid Adan has announced a ceasefire in Luuq district following recent deadly clashes that claimed dozens of lives.

The Jubaland Vice President said the warring factions had agreed to end the fighting unconditionally. The two sides also agreed to open dialogue to resolve their disputes.

The ceasefire followed a mediation by Adan in Luuq town where he met elders from the warring sub-clans. Several people were killed in recent weeks following a flare-up of violence in the area.

The Federal Government warned the clashes could be an attempt to divert attention from the ongoing war against Al-Shabaab.
