Michael Nithavrianakis appointed new UK ambassador to Somalia

GOOBJOOG NEWS|LONDON: Michael Stephen Nithavrianakis is the new United Kingdom ambassador to Somalia, the UK government has announced.

Nithavrianakis will take over from Kate Foster whose diplomatic duty in Somalia has lapsed. The UK government said Foster will be transferring to another Diplomatic Service appointment.

The new ambassador will take up his new role in May, the UK government said. Nithavrianakis is currently serving as Consul General and Director Trade and Investment in Milan Italy.

He has been in the foreign service since 1984 and has served in various capacities in Afghanistan, India, and Saudi Arabia among other postings.
